Living Nightmares

Living Nightmares

A Poem by Rowena Slade

I look to my left.

I look to my right.

I start to panic.

They're all around me.

I can't stop them.

They creep their way

Inside my head.

It's so painful.
I can't stand it.

Please...

Someone,

Anyone,

Help me.

Please make them stop.

I'm on my knees

Begging you.

I can't take it any longer.

Instead of helping

You laugh and scoff

At the pain I'm in.

I thought I could trust you.

You prove me wrong.

Now I'm laughing at you.

One day

I'll get you back.

One day

You'll feel the pain I'm in.

But unlike you

I'll help you,

Once you've realized your mistake.

Once you realize the pain

No...

Not memories,

But living nightmares,

Can do to you.
