A Little Sunshine On Rainy DaysA Poem by RougeAngelRain pours down as she stands outside In a storm so unescapable. Her body aches with the pain her emotions impart but The roar of the torrent cannot drown out The voice that whispers to her, Remember what you have around you, take joy in them. Such simple words, always echoing in her mind. The girl tries to live by them but some days, On the rainy days, she can't find them. Sometimes she is content wallow in her mire. Sometimes she searches for a way out But every time she grabs hold her hand slips. She picks herself up and the voice whispers again, Remember what you have around you... The girl searches her life and world for the answer to the command And she remembers... Young love by the crystal mountain lake, Velvet night skies pierced by shooting stars, The codenames created for unsuspecting boys and the Calming of a friend's panic mode. The rumble of an approaching storm and the Rainbow that follows. The smile a daisy will always give her and Who they remind her of. She remembers the Father's love and The angels in her midst. She remembers the plans made for that late summer day And the night to follow. Late nights with roommates, The early classes the next day And the simple sound of his voice saying that he loves her. The more she recalls, the more the girl can see That she had forgotten to remember all that is good in her life. She was blinded by self-pity and could not see how He had blessed her struggle. A man's love, codenames and daisies... Endless nights and sun-filled days. Cherished memories created and Countless more to be made. The girl smiles to herself as she continues to think Of the sunshine on her rainy days and she hopes That they know they shine through her storm.
Remember what you have around you, Take joy in them.
