And Heaven Smiled

And Heaven Smiled

A Poem by RougeAngel

So long they have waited...

Waited to be together.

So long they have waited for this day...

The day when they could be one.

His heart is thundering like a stampeding herd

And his stomach flutters as the music fills it with butterflies.

He turns to look up the aisle...there she is.

His breath is stolen away.

Her stomach is twisted in knots

And her heart skips a beat as the music plays on.

She looks up and sees him waiting.

Her lungs betray her.

Slowly she draws nearer to him

And their eyes meet.

The world seems to melt away...

Leaving only them at the altar.

Neither can stop smiling as they

Promise each other their love,

Their faithfulness, their life...

Forever.

Tears of joy fall from her eyes

As they are lost in his.

Faintly, they hear the blessing given over them.

She is his...he is her's.

He pulls her close to seal their bond.

His mind goes back to that first kiss...

She remembers how it felt...

So nervous, so sweet.

Their trembling lips meet again for the first time

Bringing their dream, that had once seemed lost, to pass.

So long they had waited but He knew their fate.

They were finally together...and all of Heaven smiled.

THIS WAS SO CUTE. ;-; Happy poems are such a rarity, but this is an excellent example of why they should not be overrun by a heard of depressing, emo poems! XD I really liked the repetition in the first stanza & just your wording of such simple actions, such as "her lungs betray her" was really unique and made this poem a joy to read. (: Great job!
