Rest

Rest

A Poem by RougeAngel

The day is done and the sun has set,

Leaving cool moonlight in its place.

I can hear Your voice whispering to me softly on the night breeze,

"Come to me and I will give you rest."

In reply, I look up to the night sky and smile in the

Light of the countless stars You put into place.

How good it feels to sit in Your presence...

To be still and rest.

I tell You about my day but of course You already know.

You walked it with me, every step of the way.

But now beneath the indigo sky speckled with gleaming diamonds,

I come to you for the truest rest.

I can lay the troubles of my day's journey before You.

Together we can laugh about life's quirks

And together cry about my sorrows.

My burdens are sliding off of my back now, at Your feet they rest.

My weight has been lifted from me,

Leaving only a tired body.

Now I can sleep, comforted by Your mercy and faithfulness.

Now I can rest.

On the horizon, the velvet sky is touched by the sun's rays.

A new day has come, another chance and a new promise.

Your light shines through my window and into my life once again.

Good morning, God! Only in You can I rest.

Thank You for the night, oh Lord.

And thank You for a time when we can quiet our souls

And come to You humbly.

I will always seek You for You give me rest.

This reminded me of one of the Psalms. King David gazing at the starry heaven and praising God. So many have lost the gift of prayer. So many have lost faith if they every had it. This poem reminds us of the mercy and love the Creator wants us to experience if only we will seek him.

This is the second time I have been blessed by reading one of your poems. It won't be the last, God willing.
