The Armor of GodA Poem by RougeAngelDoubts flurry through my mind. I can feel his dark presence near me, Affecting my very thoughts and actions. The evil that I feel around me threatens to I can't breathe.
I try to push him off of me but I can't do it alone. I feel covered in shadow, so far from the light That has illuminated and guided my life. I cry out for help. I pray for deliverance. I put on the Armor of God.
First the Belt of Truth, that will guide me toward the light again. Next the Breastplate of Righteousness to protect me from my foes And the Shoes of Peace to walk in His Word. I take up the Shield of Faith for protection from the Evil One And the Helmet of Salvation to find my way. Finally I take up the Sword of the Spirit with which I do battle.
I rise covered in God's protection to meet my enemy. Gripping the hilt of the Sword I raise the Shield and Prepare to fight for my very soul. My oppressor meets me head on but I refuse to back down. The englufing darkness makes it nearly impossible to see Who or what I am fighting.
Fatigued and bruised, I am knocked to the ground. In a desperate bid for victory, I lunge forward with The Sword of the Spirit and strike a mortal blow. A brilliant light shines forth and I can see my foe cowering in the sheer radiance of my armor. Now he can see that I walk in the strength of the Lord for Nothing can defeat anyone clad in the Armor of God.
