Amazing LoveA Poem by RougeAngelBetrayed and beaten, He walked the final part of His journey. Blood shed for you and me. A crown mocking His true place Was thrust upon His bruised head. The cross, that was His alone to bear, He embraced. Gripping the coarse timber, He took each excruciating step Amid shouts of hatred from the people who just days earlier Praised Him as their Lord. Now those same people crowd around the Son of God As He scaled Golgotha, The Skull. There on that sun-drenched hill, The Savior was stripped And laid upon the tree He had been made to carry. Blood flowed when the nails pierced the hands That had healed the blind, deaf and lame. He cried out for their forgiveness, not for His own rescue. Hoisted up into the afternoon sun, He prayed for those Who were crucifying Him, He comforted the thief beside Him who begged, "Remember me when you come into your kingdom." And when He had given His soul over to the Father, The Messiah breathed His last. With that final breath, the earth shook and the temple was put asunder, Forever tearing down the veil between us and our Heavenly Father. Through His death do we have life with God. He endured the wrath of the world to rescue the wandering. Amazing love.
