Back To The Table

Back To The Table

A Poem by RougeAngel

The wait is excruciating.

I am awaiting the time to bring my burdens,

Cast off my sorrows and be washed clean...

Waiting to receive Your salvation.

My sins have mounted and I can't

Handle them myself...

I need you.

But how can I come to Your Table

After all I've done?

Why would you call someone like me Your "child?"

I don't think I can even see my way to

The altar...to Your sacrifice.

I rise to go to You...but am I ready?

Like a child approaching their earthly father,

I go haltingly as I know I have done wrong.

I raise my downcast eyes...I can see You there,

Waiting for me with arms open, ready to catch me.

I am ready...

Ready to try again, ready to let You be God.

I am ready to come back to the Table.
