Gentle Eyes

Gentle Eyes

A Poem by Roth Jordain
"

My faithful friend Liba.

"

Gentle Eyes

O gentle eyes deepest brown

In auburn hue, soft your hair,

Welcome sighs, never a frown

Show loving too, always care.

Upon your face a happy grin

Turn my heart, bend the soul,

By your grace all welcome in

From the start all anger stole.

Without pride, yes you’re true

At home’s door each day-end,

And at my side when I’m blue

It is for sure, I’ll have a friend.

Oh gentle eyes, smiling bright

In each prayer a place for you,

No surprise, you are just right

We are a pair like so very few.

Orthan Parmuk quote:

'Dogs do speak but,

only to those who

know how to listen'.

I really enjoyed this piece Roth, which clearly shows your devotion to Liba. A beauty. Love the pic you have posted. I have Solo, she loves me unconditionally, quite an old lady she is now. I inherited her from my grandson about five years ago. Your stanzas, have the feel good factor, so welcome during the challenging times we find ourselves in. May you have many happy days together with Liba.

Oh, how I loved this! I have three cats, and have longed for a dog for so many years. I am getting ready to move into an apartment back east, but there is a townhome apartment close by that is affiliated with the one I'll be in, which means as soon as an apartment is available there, I can move...it doesn't matter if it's under a year. And the BIG benefit to that is, there is a fenced in yard! I really loved this, Roth. And how much you love, Liba! So nice to meet you both!

What a nice tribute to a furry friend. I like dogs. They generally like me. I had a dog, smart as whip, once. He knew about fifty words of English. He was a strange mix of Chow Chow, Dachshund and who knows what else. He had splayed front feet that were webbed and a tail that curled up on his back. Good memories. I enjoyed your poem.

A beautiful homage to those little creatures that give us such unconditional love. I'm reminded of one such companion in my life. A short haired black cat named Janus. His loyalty through difficult times showed me the value of love that they provide. I had found him abandoned as a newborn kitten. His eyes still closed. When I brought him home my grandmother said he probably wouldn't last the night, but with her help we got him through it. And more days followed. I will never forget when he finally opened his eyes to reveal these piercing emerald gems that looked at me as if I were God. Little did I know he would be more savior to me, than I to him. I will always miss my friend. Thank you Roth for this heartfelt tribute to those we love like family.
