Lull

Lull

A Poem by Rozzle Bacon

The space between your shoulder blades
Deepens with the weight of a shadow,
And the lines in my forehead are
Pathways that wind into labyrinths
Of longing

For clouds to clear into a summers day;
For breezes to breathe through our laced fingers;
For the shadow to shift from your back
And form a blanket beneath us;
For patterned silhouettes to slip from the sky
And blossom from our lips;
For tides of tears to bathe us
In the warmth of this lull
Where we lie
Listening
To our love

But the sky closes into this pale ceiling
And I am drowning in your eyes,
Pools of sadness
And doubt
