Chapter 52 - Itachi Appears?!

With Lilly still knocked out upon the floor of the massive tower, and smoke now in the air, Jynx and Michael had no idea who - or what - was going to appear from the scrolls. However, by the time the smoke finally cleared, the surprise on their faces was so priceless, Itachi couldn't help but chuckle. It had been a while since he'd last seen his original team, before he had been forced to relinquish the team to his younger brother.

Jynx and Michael were both shocked to see their first sensei standing before them, when the smoke cleared. They couldn't believe their eyes. It had been a long time since they had last seen him in the Jonin jacket.

"Itachi-sensei!" Both exclaimed at the same time.
"Hello you two." Itachi smiled, before realising his sister was missing. "Where's..." Before he had any time to ask that question, he noticed his little sister laying unconscious on the ground. "Lilly!" He gasped, as he went over and picked her up. "What happened to her you two?"
"Some Sound ninja attacked us, and got to Lilly." Michael explained. "We had been separated for a bit, so we couldn't be entirely sure."

"Right..." Itachi sighed. "I'll have to go inform Anko and Lady Tsunade all about this. You two go wait in one of the rooms nearby until you are told what to do. I'll take Lilly with me. Understand?" He looked at both Genin, as they nodded understandingly towards him. "Good." He vanished with Lilly in his arms.

***********

Itachi later appeared at the tower where both Lady Tsunade, and Anko were staying to watch over the exams, with his younger sister in his arms. He bowed low, before looking up towards Tsunade with his emotionless Sharingan eyes. Even through those emotionless eyes, Tsunade could tell something wasn't right.
"Itachi... what's going on?"

"Team 7 just reached the tower, and unlocked the scrolls, which caused me to appear. But I never even got the chance to congratulate them for getting there, before I noticed my sister unconscious." He sighed.
"Looks like he's already started to move once again." Anko growled, having been beaten up, and already explained everything to Lady Tsunade about Orochimaru's return. "And he's targeting another Uchiha." Anko's cursed mark still hurt, and she kept her hand tightly against it.
"Orochimaru..." Itachi growled. "Him again. He's already caused pain to my brother, and now he's going after my sister." His tone told Tsunade how angry he was, and that if he seen Orochimaru, he wasn't going to be responsible for his actions. Tsunade wouldn't blame him for anything he would do to that snake.

**********

Jynx and Michael were shocked that they had been left alone. So, they followed their old sensei's orders, and headed towards one of the rooms nearby. Michael however, couldn't stop thinking about what the tapestry actually meant, but he was more concerned about their friend and team mate.

Luckily for the both of them, there was still a few hours to kill before the end of the final day, and they would be needed to meet up with Anko. They had no idea what the next part of the exam would entail. Whatever it was, they hoped that Lilly would be okay by the time they would find out.

***********

Lilly finally awoke a few hours later, but she had no idea where she was, or what had happened to her lately. All she knew was her arm hurt like crazy, and that the sound ninja she fought was responsible for it. Orochimaru. She sat up on the bench she had found herself on, before seeing someone standing beside her.
"I'm so sorry Lilly." The figure said with a quiet whisper. She recognised it straight away.
"Big brother..." She blinked, wondering why Itachi was there. "What happened? Where'd Orochimaru go?"
"Don't worry about that snake Lilly. We'll find him." Before she could ask anymore questions, she noticed that it wasn't just her brother in the room. There were two other people, both female.

"Lady Tsunade, Anko-Sensei. What are you doing here?" She got up, holding her arm in pain. The fever and everything else had faded.

"Itachi brought you here. Don't worry, your team mates are fine. They have qualified for the preliminary round of the finals, as have you. You where brought here straight after Itachi appeared from the scrolls to your team, and noticed you unconscious on the ground. Worrying for you, he didn't even do what he was supposed to - which was congratulate your team on passing the Forest of Death - and brought you straight to us." Lady Tsunade explained everything to her that had happened.

"Oh." She rubbed her arm slightly.

"Don't fret, we will not let that snake harm you." Anko smirked, as she stopped holding onto her own cursed mark.

Anko explained to her everything about what Orochimaru was capable off, while Itachi and Lady Tsunade discussed what they were going to do about the cursed mark that had been placed on her. Finally everything was sorted, and Lilly was allowed to go back to meet up with her team, before heading to the preliminary hall, where the next stage would start.
