Duchessa

Duchessa

A Poem by Anna

Her long blonde hair

Tangles

In my memory"

Knife never sharp

Enough

To cut through

Every strand.

She's wrapped around

My heart

The smell of oak trees

In my lungs and

Aching in the pit

Of my throat.

Daffodils in the rain

In my eyes

In my hands and

Under my nails.

The grass rolling on

And the wind catching

Every golden tress

Against the daylight.

We look nothing alike

We have only

The same color eyes.

The worlds within them

Upside down

All twisted now"

The deep ravines full

With twigs and branches

With the strands

Of long blonde hair.
