Uranium

Uranium

A Poem by Anna

I absolutely meant

Every single word I said.

When it was growing dark

And the sea of stars

Rolled onward

Into the vast open nothing

That you so loved"

You were so in love

And not with me

But the glittering prisms

All around us.

I meant every word

That I said

In the total silence.

In the heavy

Quiet

Between you and I.

My eyes bore

Into the distant core

Of some lonely star

That I couldn't care less about.

I told you everything

I confessed to you

Like you were something holy

And I"

Someone trying

Hard, shattering glass

Inside my throat

But still telling you the truth.

The words were thick

Just honey in the air

Dripping from

My lips

Invisibly, irrevocably.

I meant all the love

I sent your way

In baskets down the river.

I meant it

I meant it

I meant it.
