You Said

You Said

A Poem by Anna

You said, "whatever happens between us--"
and I didn't hear the rest of it.
I fell into all the things that could be
wrong with us.
They crawled through me
with spindly legs and tore into
my heart.
Omens of wrath
of abomination
of losing you.

Your gaze flickered away as
you spoke convincingly of something;
I wasn't hearing a word of it
but you smiled at the end.

I wanted to smile back to you-
if only to show that I had listened
but I could only flinch
at the ache inside my chest.

I read few of your poems and I am in love with your style, once in a long time I find that type of poetry that is simple but so complicated , that say alot with few words , that touch the feelings and describe them so well ,
makes me wonder as usual

That's my favorite :
I wanted to smile back to you-
if only to show that I had listened
but I could only flinch
at the ache inside my chest.

She said, "I know you don't want to hear this..." I wouldn't even remember that much except for the shock treatments. Progress is our most important product. (General Electric)

The heart knows first. If lie or true dear Anna.
"Omens of wrath
of abomination
of losing you."
The above lines. We shall know and feel often. We like to say the liar's prayer and we hope. We can use trickery to enhance a moment. I liked the flow and the honest tone of the words dear poet. When we see the end at the beginning. We know, we are doomed to sadness. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
