You SaidA Poem by Anna
You said, "whatever happens between us--"
and I didn't hear the rest of it. I fell into all the things that could be wrong with us. They crawled through me with spindly legs and tore into my heart. Omens of wrath of abomination of losing you. Your gaze flickered away as you spoke convincingly of something; I wasn't hearing a word of it but you smiled at the end. I wanted to smile back to you- if only to show that I had listened but I could only flinch at the ache inside my chest.
