Sebastian's Dream

Sebastian's Dream

A Poem by Anna

There's a starlight candle encased in crystal;
about to burn out- the wick burning down.
And its light is dim, a little daisy-soft glow;
the forethoughts of some sad coming dream.
On the corner of an aging midnight world;
it lingers, grasping onto phantom galaxies.

The Lamplighter is coming-
hear his leather boots on the cobblestone;
he's humming a tune from autumn-
he's coming to snuff the flame.

Oh Anne Marie, this gave me a shiver! There's a cosmic feel of things unwinding in the first verse and then the sensuous lines about the lamplighter., the detail of leather boots, humming a tune. And then I started to grasp that there's a metaphor going on. Very nice!
Regards,
Alan

Your words create such a deep, rich atmosphere. One can sense the coming darkness, stories unfolding, soft sounds rising. What beautiful symmetry of radiant thought.
