Charm

Charm

A Poem by Kelley Rose

With your charm you set the bait,

I love you, you wisely declare.

But all I can feel is hate,

you don’t even seem to care.

You tell me that I’m pretty,

I make you feel like no other.

You think you are so witty,

but I know about your lover.

Her hair is soft, her skin fair.

Just when I feel I should run,

you pull me back into your lair.

I wonder, what have I done?

I let you in to grip my heart,

believed the lies that you told.

Hitting their target like a dart,

day by day increasing their hold.

Am I capable of escape?

To Realize the truth, is key.

Pulling back the foolish drape,

to see you never loved me.
