The Servant's CatA Story by Tionge Rosalie JohnsonA white
little kitten lay resting one rainy afternoon upon the soft cushions of a
windowsill. The rhythmic pitter patter
of the rain soothes the feline into a deep, peaceful slumber. A tall figure of a man garbed in a Japanese kimono,
enters into the living room where the sleeping kitten lay. His hand reaches for the delicate white head
as he proceeds to pet the small creature.
Purring reassures him that the animal could do no harm, which was enough
to build the confidence to cradle it in his arms. When this happens, he notices
something odd about the way the kitten remained unphased by the sudden movement
from the windowsill to a strangers embrace.
There was no hissing, scratching, nor loud vocal reactions of defiance;
it continued to sleep as if nothing had occurred. As a result, feelings of
quilt and dominance begin to play a tug-a-war with his conscience. The delicate
creature seemed almost vulnerable, with open doors just waiting to invite
anyone who could provide warmth and comfort.
Should he take advantage of this ever trusting feline or leave it be? Unable
to bare the raging war within his mind any longer, he places the creature upon
the soft cushions were it once slept, ever
envious of its opportunity to be given a second chance at freedom. Regrettably, the emperor would never let go
of his own fragile little kitten. © 2016 Tionge Rosalie JohnsonReviews
