Calm waters set me free

Calm waters set me free

A Poem by Liz
"

A poem about drowning all sorrows. With no hesitation yet little contemplation.... Finally give in

"
Waves come crashing before me
A sedulous thought crosses my mind
Silently the sound of calm waters echo behind my ears
With each passing second the temptation grows even stronger.

Dilatorily and with no sense of haste,
I begin to make my way forward.
My mind autistic to background noises,
So focused on what lies ahead.

My many thoughts at loggerheads with one another,
Contemplating whether or not I should.
I wanna look back to say goodbye,
But I insist on moving straight ahead.

As I walk deeper and deeper ,
My mind secluded from reasoning out of this,
My sorrows seem so languished
As I let the calm waters engulf my lifeless shell.

The most literal interpretation would leave the reader empty. However, I see a deeper meaning; "calm waters" as a peaceful path forward, in front of and away from the turbulent past. That's why we don't look back. We know where we've been. So, we just look forward. It's a hopeful journey forward (for me). :)

you`re welcome
this is a beautiful poem. i think it is kind of open to interpretation because the atmosphere you created doesn't necessarily point to a specific thing, which can be a plus.
i look forward to read more of your work.
