Phoenix in the Night

Phoenix in the Night

A Poem by Nathaniel Mann

Orange flames burning
And the night sky
Above is glowing still
My thoughts returning
Like plastic in the flames
You bent my will
You're a phantom
That haunts me in the night
But at least its
Something you do right

(Chorus)
Now I only
Dream in black and white
Flames are burning
Like a phoenix in the night
You turn
Away
Like a lonely broken wheel
No longer can you feel
Anymore

And cloaked in green
The ruins of your faith
And our demise
Is still worth all your fate
You're falling still
And the bottom's not
As far as you can go
You know

(Chorus)

Now in the pond
Your reflection's crystal blue
And like your life
It ripples away from you
With just a stone
It takes away everything you knew
And it's so far away
Away

(Chorus)
