Chapter Eleven

I'm in the car on the way to Los Vegas with Wenn in the passenger seat phoning through my music tapes and anything else he could get his hands on.

"How much longer Dom?" We've been in this car for hours." Wenn whined profoundly.

"Just four more hours, give or take a few okay?"

Wenn groaned frustratingly.

"Fine, then give me your phone, I'm bored plus I want to see if your little help is still needing your aid. Or maybe her husband?" Wenn smiled obnoxiously.

I rolled my eyes.

"No Wenn, don't start any of that today. I'm not in the mood and God knows I've had more drama in these past weeks than I could handle."

Wenn pouted, and crossed his arms with a defiant look on his face.

"Damn Dom, could you at least tell me something, anything? I'm about to go insane here."

"You're stressing yourself out for nothing. Can't you go to sleep or something?" I tell him.

He groans again.

"No Dom, come on, just tell me how you met this Fay person? Please, I'm desperate.

"You don't say." I reply sarcastically.

He gives me his puppy eye face.

"That doesn't work on people anymore, Wenn." I tell him nonchalantly.

"Please, please, please, please, please, please?" he chanted.

I rolled my eyes again at his eagerness.

By the time he had said his 156th 'please', I broke my resolve.

"Fine, fine you little nuisance, fine!" I yell exasperatedly.

Wenn jumps excitedly in his seat like hyper driven child.

I sigh in frustration before beginning.

"I met Fay on the way to Oregon. She was on the side of the rode with a dead dog in her arms."

"I knew she was a serial killer." Wenn commented.

I thwacked him behind the head, making him cringe.

"Ow man, what the hell?"

"Do you want me to stop talking?"

My reply was silence.

"Good." I say.

From there, I told him everything that's connected me to Fay so far. I might have kept a few things out though, like the affect she had on me and how crazy she really is in reality. But I have a feeling Wenn already knows all that by the way he was smirking knowingly when I told him the part where she had given me her number.

"Dude, you really don't know how much I envy you right now. That's awesome! You have an arch nemesis and a damsel in distress. How cool is that?"

"Not a cool as you think." I reply blandly.

"Well whatever, you're lucky. You're practically living in a book."

I shake my head and attempted to change the subject.

"Wenn why the hell are you on this trip with me?" I ask.

"What? Can't a guy travel the world with his best friend once and a while?" Wenn replies smugly.

"Not in your case, no." I replied.

Wenn turned so he was no longer facing me. Still, I can sense he had some kind of idiotic plan in mind by the way he was trying to hide his knowing face.

"Good things always go to these who wait." He tells me.

I thwacked him in the head again.

"You're such a hypocrite Wendell Groat." I tell him frivolously.

He just chuckles.
