Letters to angels

Letters to angels

A Poem by Romeo D. Matshaba

Dear angels, I must now be lost… no longer can I find my way

I must be blind… no longer can I see a-ray

Vultures set to dine, and enemies are in line.

Dear angels, I met one like you… I loved one like you

but the one who steals; stole her from me

the one who steals, laughs at me.

Dear angels, I kissed her lips… they made me be

and gazing at her made me see

but still, the one who kills; killed and gorged her heart.

Dear angels, I no longer afford to seem or dream

my throat thirst… and look, my skin is now crust

her loved ones are dark at me, salt at me…

Dear angels, I now envy the dogs who bark at sky.

Who have no knowledge about the one who steals,

Dear angels, oh hear me now… I need her, I need her now!

My dear angel, I know you live

My dear angel, I write to you

I know the one who steals… is away from you

I know the one who gives… is next to you.

Tell him, I’ cum for you!
