Everyday we live; yet everyday we die
Doing what we do best
Pretend
Pretending to be someone else,
Pretending to smile ourselves insane,
When the soul bears the brunt of a million pains.
Pretend to live as the heart realizes
the gong of the nearing doom,
Pretending that life's a blast
when death looms large,
Crying the tears out until we are dry
comforted by the hope alone which lives inside.
The pain never ends until we are safely nestled in the waiting arms of death
The bars of the cage are rusted,
and oblivion awaits..
while we do what we do best
Pretend...
Okay I thought you were good , but didn't realize you're this GOOD! Loved it. I wish I could give you a better review , but I am the Jon Snow of poetry. So good luck with the other ones 'cause your first one is definitely good ( I know...sorry my adjectives fail me when I need them the most :P ).
Cheers :)

reminds me of "when I consider my life" by a famous writer. I've read it my textbook when i was in first year of my graduation. I love your poem because it tell the negative truth... Keep writing
this was beautiful Romalina...a depth and a truth of your heart seemed to speak to me in this poem. I could relate. this was expressed in a profound way.
You left the reader with many things to think about.

We do play many parts in a long life. Sometime we can't show real face to strangers and unknown. I enjoyed the poem. Made me think this early morning. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

There is one way of pretension that we can't avoid for it is not bad anyway. We really have to wear our mask sometimes. Sometimes we have to smile so that we can also make others smile or give them hope and inspiration.
Yes, a lot of people do tend to pretend and fake smiles even though they are in pain, I have many times. Though now I am found in the love of Jesus and He helps me not to pretend anymore (some days I still need work on it), because sometimes sharing our hurts and pain and how we overcome will help someone else overcome.
We do indeed. Life is pretending everything is okay and we all know how to deal with it, when in reality we are forever tripping over all the masks falling from our face, that we need to wear to pretend we are fine when the reality is we are all just scared kids going through life like its the first day of school and realising how big and menacing our playground truly is.
Beautifully capturing the pretence of reality :)
