Poisoned Words

Poisoned Words

A Poem by RomaJ

I couldn't stop myself
The venom spewing from my mouth
Flowing like hot lava
Obliterating everything I loved
I hurt him.
I was more angry with myself
So tired of being hurt and
disappointed
Years of Toxins
Built over time
Left battery acid
On my tongue
Poisoning my words
I cradle my chest
Trying to stop my heart
From exploding
The sun
The bright shimmering sun
It's rays
Beckons me
The heat
Comforting
Trying to soothe
The inner turmoil
Of fiery ice
Raging inside
I stare out my window
Listless
Its serene setting
Mirrored the complete opposite
of the chaos
churning
inside my head
The guilt
Consuming
I can't even bring myself to cry

Great expression of the mixed emotions. Poisoned words when released helps us get rid of our toxins

Thank you and I appreciate it
The style of writing you used brought me into the moment with you. This piece flows through the stages of grief in a wonderfully twisted way. Anger (venom, fire, chaos), bargaining (heart, sun, head, trying), denial (turmoil, churning), and depression (listless), all mixed up together and not lined out, all tidy. That's how we really feel things. This is brilliant and rebellious!

Wow, thank you for this kind review. I appreciate it
wow, solid metaphor here...sometimes we are so sad and angry with ourselves that we can't summon up the tears..our only release is to antagonize the one we love...

over time...this build up of acid overflows.
