the devil inside

the devil inside

A Poem by Roland Corvus
"

rise and transform or succumb and perish

"
those who are deranged, insane; cannot be tamed
refrain from playing the game; they take aim
at the ones who overcame, still contain a brain
will not proclaim that its all just a picture frame

but whats really to gain from re-framing the main frame?
out goes in the innocence and in comes the pain
ain't got not one penny since no income remains
there is not room for joy once aboard this crazy train
the wheels are off the track cannot remember your own name
because what you once held sacred now seems empty and so lame
take a look inside the mirror try to recall from where you came

started out so innocent, started out so very great
a kid with the world served on a silver plate
failed to recognize the demonic change of state
trade the boredom for the pills for the needle for the hate
vision blurred and darkened, now so morbid is your fate
crawling down a path it seems no one can equate
take one look inside try to find that golden gate

so keep your eye on the prize
and you will surely someday rise
it is unclear what lead some
to choose a path that's so unwise
once so beautiful and righteous
now only hatred in your eyes
only you can choose the path
so choose righteousness or demise
from virtue to acrimony
it serves as no surprise
that what are now storm clouds
were once a beautiful sunrise
look down on your body, circling with flies
utterly impossible to flourish until the old you dies
