Sun set on FukushimaA Poem by Roland SivarAs the sun sets on Fukushima So it does upon the earth As sickness spreads over the plain The blackened rivers mock the birth Of every child to be born henceforth Of every love alive today As we race and scramble now To bring cancers cure to the light of day In the name of progress we committed this crime Holding no stock in the sands of time It moves without sound, without voice, without breath knows no discrimination, alight unto death Six years 'till the ocean (The greatest on this earth) Brings, with its gentle motion This inevitable curse Weep for your children Weep for the tree of life Weep for our ancestors There is nowhere to hide As the sun sets on Fukushima So it does upon the earth Will I see the death of all I love In my remaining years.
