In A Smile

In A Smile

A Poem by Rohan Murrolet
"

Prompt poem about love and leaving behind the one you hoped to be with.

"

As death flooded his eyes, his lips found life in a smile.

The lips of a crippled love whose smile radiated purity.

The lips of days of past love and regret,

The lips that once embraced his own with passionate remorse,

The lips that once connected them and encased them in their own world,

The lips that allowed strong arms to hold him against the beating heart of his love,

The lips that had spake to me with endearment and promised to protect me,

The lips that held the frame of my cupid together as I began to drift away,

The lips that rested beneath the flooding eyes as sobs played with the sounds of my room,

The lips that traced itself on my head as my existence slowly came to an end,

The lips that I looked at as I began to flat-line on the bed,

The lips that I tried to enjoy in my final moments,

The lips that belonged to him, the man who stood by me.

The lips of the man who loved me first and loved me always even in my final moments,

The lips of the man who leaned towards me as I faded away and kissed me good bye.

As death flooded his eyes, his lips found life in a smile.
