As The Flower Sprang From My Heart

As The Flower Sprang From My Heart

A Poem by Rohan Murrolet
"

This is my first poem I have written for this site. I wrote it as a way of describing love in a way that connects it to nature. Hopefully you enjoy it.

"

When it was a seed, you planted it

In the deepest hole in my heart

To allow it to nourish itself within me.

When it began to sprout,

We did nothing more but water it with passion

And let nothing uproot it.

When it became a stem,

We cherished it and bathed it

In the purest of light.

When it bore leaves,

We let it collect the memories

And the struggles that came with time's passing.

When it began to bud,

We watered it with the tears

And the sweat of anguish and struggles.

When it bloomed,

We fought to protect it and allow it

To reach to the heavens.

Now we are here.

Now we are at the peak of its growth.

We have watched other flowers blossom and die,

Watched countless tears drip down its stem,

Eradicated problematic pests,

And struggled to keep it alive.

For five years we have done this,

And now our flower is beginning to hang and wither.

For this I don't blame you,

But I can not spare you from whatever suffering our flower will endure.

Maybe our time as gardeners is to come to an end.

But alas, I do not know.

Only time will tell if we can continue

To raise our flower and allow it to wither with us in old age.
