"Before you judge someone, you should always walk a mile in their shoes." - proverb
Shoe stores are always well stocked in my size.
My feet are a bit small comparably to others my age.
Rarely have I met another who wears the same.
As I pack these old pairs up to take to the second hand store, I wonder..
Will the next to put them on tread down the same path?
I had a friend I used to go shopping with and she gook a five...she loved to buy shoes ...she had
this little cinderella foot...haa...enjoyed your words...Rose:)

Thank you, Rose.
The Cinderella foot friend made me smile. :)
I wonder about things like that also. Well put.
But you didn't finish the proverb.
If you don't like someone walk a mile in their shoes....... If you still don't like them ,at least you are a mile away and you've got their shoes.

I did research this proverb quite a bit.. There are so many variations on wording, etc.. This was the main part I remembered at the time (though I read some will tell you moccasins or boots instead of shoes). So I just stuck with it when I wrote the piece.
"Before you judge someone, you should always walk a mile in their shoes." - proverb
No two people tread down the same path, and unfortunately it's much easier to judge than to walk in their shoes.
As I pack these old pairs up to take to the second hand store, I wonder..
Will the next to put them on tread down the same path?
A very unique thought to ponder. I like your literal and metaphorical take on this.
Job well done, Rogue. Look forward to reading more of your work.

Very nicely done. I always enjoy when there is a balance between the particular and personal [first 3 lines] and the universal/philisophical [last line]. Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you, Steve. I am glad you liked this one. :)
Unique thought to create a special conversation where everyone may wonder randomly to find how it is related to his/her case. What I can guess from the proverb is one should judge a person from the point of view
of that person.Looking into the person's situation may bring the best judgement.
However,I am sure that at some point Rogue will intervene and make the tense situation comfortable for all.
Thanks for sharing such a lovely piece. :)

You are indeed correct in what the proverb means. I took it and added both a literal and metaphorical take on it and my thoughts, as it was an actual question that popped into my head while packing up shoes I no longer wear to donate. Rogue's mind works in strange ways.. :D
Thank you for taking the time to read and share your thoughts, my friend. :)

Yes,I agree with you that Rogue's mind works in strange ways.-smile-:)
Quite a deep and thoughtful piece, going way beyond the footwear factor. No one can ever really walk the same path - we are destined to make each path, and each step, our own. This short piece really has me thinking - Forest Gump's "I've worn lots of shoes..."; Heraclitus' quote: "No man ever steps into the same river."
Rambling now, but in a good way! Great poem, Rogue!

Oh, I like this, Rogue. I often think about walking in other peoples' shoes. Also, when you plant one foot in front of the other, where will you end up? Depends if you turn left or right. Will anyone else experience things as you did? I could go on. This short piece makes you think and I like that! Angi

I think this write goes deeper than that. One size does not fit all when it comes to life and tastes and likes or dislikes and our paths are different but they could intersect too.. We have to make our own choices as we see fit to our advantage and not follow the crowd who are prone to be the sheep in everything. Being unique and different is noble as long as it is done in a noble way and not an evil one.
I like your last question for it contains a lot of philosophy in it. They say clothes or shoes have auras ( I heard that ) and whenever others put them on the feel a strange feelings about it vs. the new clothes. It is a weird phenomenon indeed. Even when people enter a room they change the energy in that room. I always thought it was fascinating. I hope other writers whom will read this great write can expound on it a little more...
Excellent...:)
