Molting

Molting

A Poem by Rogue

Release me from this gilded cage
At last subdued in all my rage
Wounded fighter upon your shores
Vengeful angel in petty wars
To be dragged here and locked away
No longer knowing night from day
Take these tresses and hood from me
So I may once again fly free
Conflicts over and no-one won
I played my part and now I'm done
Forgive me now as I do you
For all we did and didn't do
Toss me high that I can take flight
Soaring up, out, into the night
Remember me only in love
Angry black crow transformed to dove

sometimes life's coincidences are not so coincidental....always a pleasure, my friend
I know someone very close to me that needs, needs to read your words. She is cawing very loudly inside her cage even though she holds her own damn key! I am so glad you are flying free, girl! Life is too short for misery.

My first wife liked to take up with other guys while I was overseas, then slap me with a divorce when I got back. I married her twice and she pulled the same stunt twice. So yes, your words ring out with familiarity. Even though in some ways, I hated to part with her, I knew it had to be. I'm glad you're no longer that black crow.

we learn from relationships and move on to peace.

i really like the way you wrote this piece...very natural rhyme..

and yes the petty wars amount to a battle lost...and love should not be a battlefield...(as pat benetar once sang)

if it is..there is always unease...should be built on communication and peace.

really good write, Rogue.

Splendid read and write. I am amazed and left speechless. Your words seem to reflect my soul. Make sense? Anyway, well done.
