Stone AgeA Poem by Rogue
A man was discovered who carried a key
That would unlock the door to life's mystery So many had traveled from far and wide Their numbers swelled as a wave at high tide The air became filled with high expectation Awaiting the reason for all of creation As he was marched forward and put into place With great hope he studied many a face He saw eyes that were filled with an averous need Inwardly he recoiled at the sight of their greed This knowledge he possessed would not be understood These people were not ready to apply it towards good It was then that he ran, key clutched in his hand Smuggling it away like some contraband Scurrying though alleys praying for luck Dead end at the water when the first rock struck With the next one he stumbled and finally went down Key slipping from his fingers, he and they watched it drown A deluge of masonry until he was dead The way to truth now buried in the river's bed © 2013 RogueReviews
