Somebody Must Be Lying
Kiss the sunrise goodbye Ride the sunset down the sky Somebody thought it was cool to be dark And now his mind is at war with his heart And this is what it feels like To never feel Whisper that I love you On an iron-willed cue Somebody claimed that he hated the world But dove right into it to find him a girl And now this is what it tastes like Bittersweet words of steel A childhood spent behind the window sill He's all grown but he's lookin for the right line still Somebody stuck a grenade Into the one song he never played And this is what it sounds like Now that i've tried Somewhere in this world somebody is laughin' While the one who told the joke is on the verge of snappin' Somebody dreamed of being king too late So he slithered his way past the gate And this is what it looks like On the other side Swear you'll never give in again Until the stench makes it too much to pretend Somebody caught himself the scent of pleasure And it conjured a past too vast to measure And this is what it smells like To live in chains of perfume Pull one last thought out of the fray And escape out onto the highway Somebody said that ignorance is bliss It must be true cuz im awake in the abyss And this is aint what it seems like To sense in myself a tomb Somebody must be lying © 2014 Tyler Dean AllenAuthor's Note
