Hauntings

Hauntings

A Poem by Panhead Rod
"

Halloween spirits reflected through the inner child in all of us...

"
...
As days shorten...
and darkness expands...
the scare-crows witness...
the final season's harvest...
come alive...
through the eyes of Jack-O-lanterns...
...
Crows caw loudly...
announcing rivalry...
over the scraps...
yielded by gutting the pumpkins...
to create mystique...
as Jack just smiles...
...
Skeletons come out of closets...
hanging quietly...
Smirking as if they know something...
Looking at by-passers...
with hollowed eyes...
seeing beyond...
...
Cauldrons begin to boil...
as witches stir them...
Ingredients unknown...
Imagination a must...
Brooms standing in corners...
Frazzled from flight...
...
Mummies, werewolves, monsters...
all gathered in yards...
Wild lawn parties thrown...
as ghosts gawk...
Silently booing...
while left in the night...
...
Tombstones mark paths...
to coffins abandoned...
as spirits shed energy...
haunting... inviting...
Traces of magic dwell...
within...
...
Final day of October...
All this creative energy alive...
Children bring light's rays...
knocking on doors...
while costumed in imagination...
yelling..."Trick or Treat!"...
...
