The Mid-October Blues

The Mid-October Blues

A Poem by Panhead Rod
"

Poem about finding ways to get through the blues.

"
...
The Mid-October blues...
Nothing good is on the news...
Nights are cold and dark too soon...
Clouds now cover up the Moon...
Energy seems hard to find...
Lazy hides behind the blinds....
Soon the clocks put out of whack...
Only puts me more off track...
Must find ways to get me through...
Make a list of things to do...
Hummingbird says it needs fed...
Need shelves built out in the shed...
Build raised beds and think of Spring...
Organize  'bout everything...
Plan a spot to plant some trees...
Exercise my back and knees...
Bike, it needs to be gone through...
Really do have things to do...
Call my kids, see how they are?...
Keep them close while they're so far...
Laugh at all the latest trends...
Go and party with some friends...
Look at pictures... days of old...
Let them feed me Life's real gold...
Gold that reflects light that shines...
Sharing many real great signs...
Signs of ways to make it through...
these awful Mid-October blues...
...

Many people get the blues at this time of year, with the rush of holidays coming. Mid October is when I lost my Dad, so I'm reminded of that no matter what frame of mind I'm in. I feel for those who live alone, and wish I knew of some that I could keep in touch with and bring some cheer to. As your poem reflects, it is the time on our hands that we learn to navigate through during these long winter months ahead. It is always a thrill for me to meet someone new. Good to meet you, Rod. Stay warm and keep posting!
