More than a teacher...A Story by RobinIt is a story of mentor, guide and savior who worked on me and brings me up from my all odds of life.A Story of Simple, Down to earth personality- Who made me, what I am today. It started in January 2007; I was student from a marginalized family background having a striving interest in education. It was a year of my B.Sc. final year, my father suffered from paralysis attack (He was working as watchman in private security company) and he was on rest for 4-5 months. It becomes difficult for me to handle family and my education. So I chose a job and quit college. I started working in restaurant as an earning source and managed to fulfill family daily chores. I kept on reading some microbiology books during free time in job. One day a man in formal outfit came to restaurant and asked for a cup of tea. Meanwhile that man saw me reading books. He suddenly asked me is it microbiology book? I said yes. He asked are studying microbiology? I said yes I am B.Sc. final year student but I quit my study because of financial crises. He suddenly went down and it can be seen from his face. He was silence that time, finished his tea and left. Next day, he came again and order for tea. He asked me to sit with him for a while. I was bit afraid to sit but I did. Then he kept on asking me about my situations. I told my story about why I quit study and started job. He said I will support u financially but don’t skip college. I said thank you sir but I don’t want to be a burden to you. He said I would be happy to give u small support for your education. I agreed. He gave 10,000 INR for the first time. From this amount some of it I used for my readmission (I lost one year of my study during the job) and rest I kept for daily family needs. I passed B.Sc. with first class. Then now for the future study it seems to be more difficult since it financially more demanding. But he stood beside me and admitted in coaching class in Delhi for JNU entrance exam. He bears all the expenses for 3 months. My stay, my food, my fees everything paid by him. I cleared the exam and got admission in Cochin University of science and technology. I finished my post graduation in biotechnology. During the tenure he supported me financially till I finished my PG study. Then he wanted me to pursue my career in research so he guided me for PhD application. I applied to Melbourne University and I got selected. His help still didn’t stop; he gave some amount of rupees for my visa process and cover for my initial days in Australia. He not just supported me financially but gives me a strong brotherhood during my ups and downs. Whatever I am today, it’s all bcoz of him. It is hard to see such individual in this world. We people are running behind money, job, home, car and other lavish things. Nobody has time for others. Finding person like him is something unbelievable. Helping others without expecting anythin in return is greatest humanity. Helping one person might nt change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person. And he changed my world. The word “He” in my text is Dr. Prafulla Katkar Sir, a persona more than a teacher. Robin....... © 2017 RobinReviews
