Tragedy

Tragedy

A Poem by Robin

For a split second we look away.
There is nothing as tragic as unnoticed love,
nothing as tragic as misunderstandings.
Look at the stars,
count them and learn their names,
remember them,
because there is nothing as tragic as oblivion.
Notice that there are more faces to recognise
and more personalities to discover,
more fragrances to smell.
We look at each other again and our gazes cross.
There are so many roads our story can take.
But we chose silence,
silence and understanding.
It's sad because our thoughts overlay
but our lips are sealed with forgotten promises.
We chose silence.
And I will succumb under your stare
like you will under mine.
