Mother Earth and All Her Children

Mother Earth and All Her Children

A Poem by Robyn
"

Inspired by Jon Anderson, the lead singer/songwriter of the band Yes. Meeting him changed my life and opened my eyes to the serenity found only in nature..

"
The Earth and all her children cry out--
     do you hear them?

Birds sing praises of the glorious sky.
Mountains stand tall to meet the clouds up high.

The breeze gently kisses the leaves on the trees.
Flowers and Bees live in harmony.

Rain drops pour down to cleanse and renew.
The lake remains still to mirror the moon.

Blades of grass dance in the wind playfully.
Fishes swim freely in shimmering sea.

The river flows through the valley of clay.
The sun lights the path and guides our way.

All beauty comes to life when we open our mind.
Creation is singing! May their beauty, you find!

The Earth and all her children cry out--
      Now I hear them!

such a joy to be out and enjoying the gift of nature and such a blessing to come up on a piece that allows you to do that without leaving comfort of your swivel chair. :-) excellent piece.

My husband was the one who opened my eyes, nose, and ears to not using our senses enough...so much we lose when we are to busy to use what God gave us.....great write

I think this poem has a degree of the ancient voice of the earth to it. That voice carries through most of the piece. In this situation the rhyme fits the poem. Drawing back to the river to connect parts of this poem also strengthen its meaning and reach towards the timeless phrases that can be associated with the world.

I've lived in Alaska all my life. If one doesn't admire nature here then one has got some serious neuron dysfunction going on.
Great piece!

I like how you start with a question and then guide us through your question with a collage of images of nature. Nice job building and establishing the emotion. It really says calm and lovely in a nutshell. thanks. Good luck in the future. thanks
