Parallel (You and I)

Parallel (You and I)

A Poem by Robyn
"

to my erica..

"
You are broken, yet beautiful. It’s just who you are; who you were made to be. I know that it’s hard as hell,

but I hope you get back up when you fall.

Stand up and be strong

on the hardest days of all.

I’m sure you are wondering why I claim to know your story.

That’s because it’s my story too.

And I know that your wish for me

is the same as mine for you.

It breaks my heart to know that you feel alone. You’re scared but still fighting. And I ask you to never give up.

Ever.

I know first-hand that it’s hard as hell. You and I would be the first to tell.

They would never guess the places you and I have been. And doesn’t it make you wonder about the others? What kind of hell are they going through right now?

It seems to me that the ones crying the loudest, you never can hear. They’re crying on the inside.

But it’s only a matter of time before the burdens become too much to bear, to conceal…

And here we are, you and I.

It's so interesting how we are able to truely sympathize with anothers suffering. Their pain becomes our own. Not only because we care but because we too are suffering -"I'm sure your wondering why I claim to know your story. That's because it is my story too."

I can relate well to the line, "It seems to me that the ones crying the loudest, you can never hear." We inherently hide weakness.
I enjoyed this poem. Thank you!

This seems to be a conversation with your alter ego, yet you are also sharing with another. This is compassion and self introspection combined into a wonderffully fluid piece about pain; individual and collective. You speak to your audience with love and understanding and with an open, seeing Heart. An honest and lovely piece. Thanks for sharing.

It's remarkable to read something written not by imaginations but by the very soul of a kindred spirit.

i love the way you write because the way you word things you aren't going for artistic your going for real as if this whole prose is conversation...that sits better with me then someone trying too hard to sound elegant
