Chapter 2

Chapter 2

A Chapter by Rob Walsh

Before she could collect her now terrified thoughts Kaleb removed the blade from her shoulder and placed his hand around her neck. As the blood poured out of her he drank from her wound and this vastly weakened her to the point where her attempts to scream weakened. She squirmed but Kaleb’s thirst began to get stronger with each passing moment. With the last ounce of strength she had in her she pushed him off her and ran off into the night. Kaleb sat on the ground laughing and said out loud in a sneer, “Yes, I am the Dhampir.”

He picked himself up wiping the blood from his mouth. For a moment he thought of nothing but the high he felt. It heightened all his senses and he loved the way it made him feel; he was unstoppable. But like all highs he would tank and not because it was wearing off, but because he would come to the realization what he was doing and he despised his monster half and everything it stood for. It made him sick to his stomach that he could act like one of them. His mind filled with rage. In one fluid motion he screamed as he kicked a fully grown tree down. The power he had when the he gave into the blood made him incredibly powerful. His shin felt the pain for only a brief second before the blood kicked in. He walked to where his knife laid on the ground and replaced it back in his pocket. He left the scene as the high started to kick in even stronger. It was goin to be a fun night, he thought.

As he walked down the dirt path he heard two men talking. They were heading in his direction. Kaleb ducked behind a tree as they approached. He watched as they came closer.

"There are some really sick f***s out there Tim. I mean we’re stuck patrolling the park because of them!" the stockier officer complained.

"Yea I know. I just hope we find this f****r tonight!" Tim said in a heavy Brooklyn accent. He was much chubbier than his counterpart.

The two officers continued up the path that would lead them right to the dead man’s body. Kaleb started to panic. He could definitely out run them to get the body before they arrived, but he had a better idea. He stepped out from behind the tree behind the officers.

"Excuse me gentlemen."

The two cops jumped and turned around with guns drawn.   "Who the hell are you," Tim asked.

     Kaleb lifted his hands up.

"I might have some very important information for you. See something bad happened tonight and I saw it."

Tim holstered his gun and approached Kaleb.

"Yea what ya got for me kid?"

Now the other officer started to approach. Kaleb looked them both in the eyes noticing their pupils had greatly widened. He was attempting to glamour them.

"There is a man who's dead up ahead on the path. The murderer is a very attractive blonde woman with ice blue eyes. She hangs around the rave scene quite often. That’s your killer."

Kaleb convinced them and implanted it into their brain. That should keep her away for a while, he thought.

Both of the officers nodded. Kaleb turned and headed away from the officers, but stopped to turn back. Kaleb was halfway down the path before the police men snapped out of it. They rushed up to where the dead body was, guns drawn; only there was no body to be found. It had vanished. All that remained were pieces of tattered clothing and a puddle of blood. The glamour did'nt hold when what the officers saw wasnt what was told to them.

"Go get that kid before he gets too far."

Tim ran down the path, drawing his gun for he didnt know what to expect from Kaleb. Lucky for him as he reached the end of the path Kaleb was brushing his jacket off.

     "Freeze."

Kaleb put his hands in the air and slowly turned around. Part of him wanted to run, he couldnt afford to get arrested and thrown in jail, but on the other hand, if he ran he'd be on the run for a long time.

"What can I do for you officer?"

Tim approached Kaleb, handcuffs in hand, as two other poilce cars barreled up the street, sirens blaring. Tim had thrown Kaleb on the hood of the car, cuffing his hands behind his back. Kaleb struggled slightly. He could break the cuffs with little to no ease but he did have a cover to keep.

A stocky detective exited one of the police cars and walked towards Kaleb. The detective eyed him with disgust. Kaleb turned his head and saw the look the detective was giving him.

"With a look like that youd think youd at least take me out to dinner first dick."

Tim hit Kaleb in the kidney, knocking him onto the ground.

"Becareful of the threds," Kaleb complained as his shoulder scraped up on the concrete. "This blazer is Versace."

"Hello officer. I'll take him to the station and question him."

"You sure Detective? If he was the one to cause that mess you might want some back up."

     "I can handle it officer."

Kaleb grinned as the detective picked him up.

     "Alright smart a*s lets go."

"Can we get ice cream on the way."

The Detective pushed Kaleb towards the car. He opened the back door and tossed him in. Kaleb flew into the car headfirst.

"If you get involved with our affairs I will squash you like a bug, little man."

Kaleb smirked. "Theres nothing little about me, just ask your wife."

Uriel backhanded Kaleb, kocking him over two feet towards the door.

     "You're lucky you're protected."
