Ghost of AfghanistanA Poem by Rob SowreyA poem about our soldiers fighting an endless war.Ghosts of Another life is lost, Another returning Hero, They fought for our Freedom, And souls at Ground Zero. Another day it dawns, Another soul into Heaven, Underground and Over-ground, Avenging July Seven.
They are the Ghosts of Afghanistan Another family Mourns, Another family cries, Their Son or their Daughter, Yet another of them dies. Another soldier missed, Killed by a faceless enemy, Add them to the list.
They are the Ghosts of Afghanistan In far off lands, Weapons in their hands, They make their stands, On blood red sands. Defending our homes, From fanatical drones, Combating atrocity, Enforcing democracy.
They are the Ghosts of Afghanistan. We live our lives, Clenching our fists, As we work and we play, Fearless of the terrorists, Soldiers we thank, For keeping us secure, Angels in the wasteland, Trying to win the war. © 2012 Rob Sowrey |
