Chapter 3

School went by in a blur like usual, I slept through almost all my classes and lunch. Except for art of course. So I'm at my locker now. Alex told me to wait here at some point of the day when we passed by each other.

"Hey." said a voice behind me. I turn and there he is.

"Hi." I said quietly.

"Ready to go?"

I nod.

He grabs my wrist and pulls me to his car.

"You drive to school?" I ask him.

"Yep, get in."

We get in the car and for some reason I feel the urge to cut again. Instead I take my sketchbook out and draw as he gets the car started.

"You ok?" he asks.

I look up at him. "Oh, um yeah, drawing sometimes reduces the urge to hurt myself. I'm sorry, it's just I don't know how to react to someone being kind to me."

"Oh, well we need to change that as soon as possible."

I just stare at him.

"So you're an artist?"

I nod. "My art teacher says I'm one of the best in the school. I find peace in art."

"That's awesome, can I see some of your artwork when we get to your house?"

I quickly nod.

"Cool. What your address?"

I tell him and he heads there. About 5 minutes later we arrive at my house and he parks in the driveway.

"Here we are. Who do you live with?"

"My mom."

"No father?"

I shake my head. "He left before I was born. He never wanted a child so when he found out mom was pregnant and didn't want to give me up he left."

"Oh wow. I'm sorry."

"It's ok, I never knew him so it doesn't matter."

"That's understandable."

I smile at him.

We get out of the car and walk in the house.

"Hey hon, how was school?" she says as she walks in the room. "Oh, who's this?"

"Mom, this is Alex. He just moved here and started school today."

"Oh honey you finally have a friend! Sorry Alex it's good to meet you." she holds her hand out.

"Same to you Ms. Chi." He grabs her hand and they shake.

"Oh call me Tsubasa." (wing)

"Haha ok."

"We're gonna go to my room." I say interrupting them.

"Alright hon." she kisses me on my forehead and I grab Alex's wrist and pull him upstairs.

"She seems nice."

"She is but she's been ignorant of my pain for the past 2 years."

"Wow."

I nod when we get in my room and close the door.

Alex sits on my bed and ask, "Should I get a piercing?"

"That's kind of a random question. But piercings, especially on a guy, is looked down at here."

"So is being gay."

"True."

"So what do you think?"

"I think you would look awesome."

"Cool, what should I get?"

I examined him for a bit. "Hmm, either snake bites, bridge, eyebrow, or industrial."

"I was thinking the same thing."

"Then why'd you ask?"

"Just wanted a second opinion."

"That's understandable."

"You should get a labret on your bottom lip on the right."

"Um, I don't know if my mom will let me get piercings."

He gets up. "Then let's go ask."

"Woah now?"

"Yep."

He opens the door and walks downstairs before I had a chance to stop him.

"Hey Tsubasa?" he asks my mom.

"Yeah Alex?"

"Would you let Kurai get piercings?"

"Yes I would."

He turns to me when I mange to catch up to him. "Told you."

I groan.

"Well, we are gonna go to the piercer. Oh you'll need to sign this since he's under 18."

She signs the form and he drags me out of the house before I say a single word. He pushes me into his car and gets in the drivers seat.

"Wait, what just happened?"

"We just got permission for you to get a piercing from your mom."

"I never agreed to this!"

"You want one though don't you?"

I stop, he's right.

"I thought so." he smiles.

Since piercings are looked down at here there isn't a single piercing shop here so we have to go to the next town over. After about a half hour, we finally park in front of one.

"I kind of don't have any money." I tell him.

He shrugs it off. "Don't worry, I'll pay for it."

"I-I-"

"Kurai, it's ok, my parents are filthy rich ok? I can spend as much money as I want."

"Oh." I look down at my hands.

"Let's go inside Kurai."

I quickly nod and follow him into the shop.

"Hey what can I do for you?" the person at the counter asks.

"We wanna get some piercings."

"Alright, are you both at least 18?"

"I am, but Kurai here isn't so his mom signed the slip here. Oh and here's my ID for me to prove I'm 18." he takes out his ID and shows him.

After looking at the slip and the ID he grunts in acceptance.

"Come this way boys." we follow him to the back of the shop where the chairs are. "Who's first?"

Alex turns to me. "You wanna go first Kurai? Since you're only getting one piercing?"

"Oh um, sure." I nervously sit down in the chair. Why am I worried? I self-hurt all the time so this should be just a small pinch.

"Ok, so what are we doing for you?" the man asks.

"Labret on bottom right of his lips." Alex answers for me.

"Good choice. What color do you want?" He gets out multiple colors for me to look at. "And stud or ring?"

Alex chooses for me. He selects a black ring that's not a complete circle with small balls on the ends.

The man then does all the steps necessary before he pierces my lip. (Note: last time I got a piercing was like 6 years ago for my ears and I don't remember the steps leading up to it. So I can't describe it lol)

He holds the needle up to my lip and says, "You ready?" I nod slightly and he pierces my lip. He takes the needle out and puts the ring in. "All done."

I sigh in relief. It was just a pinch. He then explains the cleaning procedures and such.

After I get up he says, "Alright, your turn." to Alex.

He nods and sits down.

"What are we doing for you?"

"Snakebites, bridge, eyebrow on right side, and industrial."

"Oh wow. What would your parents think?"

"My parents don't give a f**k. Yesterday I came home with blue hair and they didn't care."

"Alrighty then."

When they're done he has snakebites on his bottom lips, both small black rings with a break in the circle like mine. A black bar with balls on the ends for the bridge. A black ring on his eyebrow, this time a complete circle with just one ball. And a black ring on the top of his left ear, the same kind as the one for the eyebrow.

Alex pays for the piercings and we head back home.

ok.....i can tell this chapter is more of an informational one leading up to the next.....i like the rapid fire back and forth dialogue...
