![]() SOUNDS IN THE NIGHTA Poem by SJ MullinsThere is a hidden world in the night That most people never see They stay quite busy with their lives Never seeming to have time that’s free I crack my window when I go to bed So I can listen to the sounds in the night As I listen to them, I am lulled to sleep Even with the moon shining bright So sad to think some don’t like the dark That holds in it so much beauty The stars twinkle brightly in the sky The man in the moon does his duty Across the waters, the moon glimmers Toads are croaking, coyotes are howling The nocturnal owl hoots in the night Foxes are screaming, the bobcats are prowling Squirrels are chattering while pigeons coo This orchestra plays nightly serenades As I drift off to sleep listening to nature’s songs Some animals find sleep in grass blades I awaken soon to morning’s first light I am ready to start my day I’m feeling refreshed and ready to go How I wish for all, it could be so
