BLUE

BLUE

A Poem by SJ Mullins

I've often been told I'm too emotional,

so is our friendship only conditional?

Why can't I be accepted as I am,

or is our friendship just a sham?

It feels like you want total control,

which makes me feel I'm in a black hole;

and no matter what I do or what I say

nothing is going to make you stay.

Why can't you see the good in me?

All my soul wants is to be set free!

Free from judgment and be accepted

instead of always feeling rejected.

Can you not accept me for who I am

or do you even give a damn?

Can you not see I'm full of passion,

and all I want is satisfaction?

Full of passion for the things I love,

and the gifts I was given from God above

Photography and writing to name a few,

He did not make me for you to subdue.

I am compassionate, loving, and sensitive.

Your acceptance would be a preventative

keeping me from darkness, finding the light,

helping me reach my potential, shining bright.

Now you have turned your back on me,

though I tried so hard to help you see

all that I have to offer you;

but all I feel these days is blue.
