ANOTHER LOST SOUL

ANOTHER LOST SOUL

A Poem by SJ Mullins
"

This piece was inspired by a piece of amazing graphic art that I found on DeviantArt. I requested to use the pic with my poem from the person who created it, but never heard back from him. :(

"

Hanging low
behind ominous clouds,
the suspended moon looms large,
giving the illusion one could touch it,
causing a supernatural feel
to the already eerie night.

Darkness encompasses
the fleeing coach
like a shroud,
leaving the feeling
a demonic sinister presence
waits in the shadows
ready to pounce.

A horde of bats flit overhead
erratically as if to lead the
ill-fated journey.

Bare trees
encroach like spindly arms
reaching out to grab anyone
who dares come within their reach,
like mammoth spiders in webs
waiting for their prey.

Swathed in a scarlet cloak,
the faceless driver
only adds to the creepiness
as a lone black stallion
shimmers under the moonlight,
racing in a thundering gallop
as if Lucifer, himself, is at the reins.

Within the crimson coach,
a lost soul has fallen victim
to this red phantom.

The veiled moon
casts looming shadows
that dance maniacally,
as another lost soul
the dark angel snatches
for all eternity.
