ONCE AND FOR ALL

ONCE AND FOR ALL

A Poem by SJ Mullins

Tears rolled down my face,

as I drifted off to sleep.

Upsetting thoughts came to mind;

I could not help but weep.

All I want is to be happy,

is that too much to ask?

Darkness creeps in when I least expect,

so I smile and wear a mask.

I don’t want people to know

the state of mind I am in.

I hide behind my smile

when I’m in the demon’s den.

It tries had to pull me back

so deep into the abyss

I fight with all my might,

as I hear its evil hiss.

It is after my eternal soul

trying to make me give in;

telling me I’ll never be whole

trying to tempt me into sin.

There are times it has succeeded,

I am quite ashamed to say.

Yet, I gave my heart to Jesus,

and it is in His arms I’ll stay.

It might have won some battles,

but it will not win this war.

I am spending eternity with Jesus

who’ll send it through hell’s door...

once and for all.
