Thirteen people rushed into the already crowded room, with a single person at the center, obviously the leader. All of them wore a uniform that has a helmet similar to those you wear on motorcycles. A grey jacket and slightly darker grey pants with an emblem on the shoulder of the jacket. The leader of the group had an emblem with a golden dragon on it. The leader looked around the room, stopping to stare at the unconscious boys and then staring at the cornered group, after this the leader removed the helmet. It turned out that the leader was female. She had incredibly pale skin and dull grey eyes. She had pale brown hair that framed her face and thin shoulders. Her whole body seemed thin, looking incredibly painful to watch her move. She was staring at the group of siblings, a sadistic smile set on her face. “Hello, my name is Abbey. Officer of the New Order’s capture group and your soon to be captor.” Her voice soft and playful but still has the killer instinct within it. She walked slowly towards the closest to her which was Caleb. He was still, he didn’t even blink. She lightly placed a hand on his face, itching for contact, desperately wanting to fight. “If you come quietly now, there will be less pain in the future.” Her grip on Caleb’s face tightened as she said pain. Caleb still didn’t move. “Well? What is your answer?”
They were silent.
Abbey smiled. “If you do not answer, you are resisting an order.”
Demetri choose that time to speak up. “What order would that be, exactly?”
“By asking you a question, I am demanding an answer. By not giving me your answer you are disobeying my order which gives me full right to take you back by force.” She was trying to find any way to fight them and they knew that. If they could stall they could buy some time to think and possibly escape.
Demetri knew this and asked another question. “What is wrong with those two?” He said pointing to Peter and Maxii who were both still unconscious. His voice seemed to get higher in pitch making him seem younger than he really was.
“I am using their energy to help me power myself. Now what is your answer?”
Demetri ignored her last words. “Does that mean if they wake up the power you used will be gone?”
Abbey narrowed her eyes at Demetri raising her hand and placing it in front of Demetri’s line of sight. Then she swiftly closed her hand, clenching it tightly. Suddenly, extreme pain filled Demetri’s skull. His whole body was soon feeling the excruciating sting of the power she was using on him. He opened his mouth to scream but nothing came out. Tears poured out of his eyes as he dropped to the ground, holding his head in pain. Lily went over quickly to try and help Demetri but a wall of earth stopped her. It was facing directly in front of where Demetri’s was. She tried to go around the stone but more of it just erupted out of the ground, blocking her walk-path.
“What and interesting power he has. So useful too.” Abbey purred, releasing some of her grip on her hand. The wall of earth subsided. Demetri’s body cringed in pain and twisted in an attempt to try and stop the hurt. He was gasping for air, the throbbing of his skull making it hard for him to think. His eyes glanced at Lily then Datara and Caleb. He then stared at Abbey and her troops. His head was hurting too much for him to comprehend what was going on but he knew that Abbey was a threat that needed to be taken care of. He weakly lifted his hand and lowered it to touch the ground, he then lifted it up. A pillar of stone launched out of the ground, missing Abbey but making 4 of her group fly out of the house and into the sky. Abbey smiled at Demetri. “Finally. You have just resisted arrest. Prepare for pain.” She smiled as she lifted both of her hands, clenched on and left one slightly open. Her fingers moving slightly as if she were manipulating a puppet.
Demetri screamed at the top of his lungs, his body jumping up and lunging at another group of troops and completely missing Abbey. He punched several of the members, only stopping when he saw that they no longer moved or showed signs of feeling the pain. Once he was done, there were no other troops beside Abbey that were moving. All of them were on the ground motionless. Demetri panted softly, he didn’t want to do that. His body made him do that. His body moved on its own. He felt like collapsing, he was so tired. His body didn’t comply though; it moved awkwardly to Abbey’s side and sat beside her. His head leaned over to her leg and lie there. As if he and she were the best of friends. “Good. You are perfect. You did exactly as I ordered you to.” Abbey gave a pet on Demetri’s head before turning towards the last 3.
Caleb’s eyes widened. She has ordered Demetri to kill the last of her troops. She wanted him to kill her group. The sadist had the power to control others. He knew there was a way to do such a thing without the pain, but she wanted to have her prey suffer. She wanted to see people squirm before she finished them. Caleb felt sick. Seeing his own brother murder all of those people without control over his body. Having his mind ripped open in order to have him under her control and he could do nothing. He could not stop his brother’s pain. He felt horrible. Datara stared at Demetri angrily.
“I want you to stop.” He said simply, ignoring the smile he got from Abbey. He stared coldly at Demetri. Demetri stared back at him, tired and defeated. He shook his head weakly, trying to explain that he could not without speaking. Datara’s glare just intensified in power.
“I can’t! I…I’m too tired! I just want to sleep!” He groaned in despair, the pain in his head increasing. He shook it weakly, closing his eyes and turning slightly to Abbey. He gave her a sad, pathetic stare but turned once he saw her happiness to his pain.
“Deme. Go ahead and stop.” Datara said once more, stressing the ‘stop’ once more, the nickname not making Demetri feel any better. He was trying to tell Demetri something without Abbey finding out, that was obvious. Demetri couldn’t figure it out though.
With his body losing its energy at an intense rate. He closed his eyes. It was a blink, so it was hort. But with every passing moment, more of his energy was drained and his blinks became longer. There was a breaking point, where his whole body felt tired, heavy, tugging towards the floor. He didn’t open his eyes. He then fell forward and didn’t move.
Abbey stared at Demetri for a moment. Smiling at the fact that she was the one that caused him this much pain. Her eyes widened when Demetri failed to stand back up even though he commanded him to. She had miscalculated the fact that Demetri, being small-bodied may not be able to handle as much pain as she thought.
She no longer has a person to control. She had used a huge portion of her power to control Demetri who even didn’t seem as if he was fighting, was and had taken a toll on her energy. She backed away slowly, frowning as Datara moved towards her. Thinking quickly she smiled and glanced at Demetri’s fallen form. “What about your little brother, huh?”
Datara was silent. Caleb and Lily’s eyes widened.
“Don’t you want to make sure he is alright? He hasn’t moved in a while.” Abbey knew she would escape now. They would never leave them their family alone. She backed away slowly, smiled softly as Datara nor the other two siblings moved towards her. She leered at the three before fading into thin air.
Datara did not approach his younger brother though, instead he watched Demetri, waiting for movement.
“Unngh…..” Was the groan heard by all in the room, unfortunately it wasn’t from Demetri. It was from Peter. He was slowly awakening, sluggishly raising his head up and rubbing it with his left hand. He was still delirious from sleep and was not aware of his surroundings. He let out another pained groan and then blinked slowly at Caleb who was now VERY, VERY close to his face.
“Uh…Can I help you?” Peter started, trying to lean his head as far as possible from Caleb’s face. “Can you give me my space?” He growled out the last part, very unhappy with the fact that his personal space was being violated.
Caleb returned his growl, glaring at Peter before saying. “You are the reason everything here has gone wrong. You are going to figure out a way to fix, him.” Caleb hissed pointing at Demetri’s form.
Peter stared at the fallen boy before smiling and turning back to Caleb.
“I’m not seeing any reason why I should. Weren’t you supposed to look after him?” Peter replied slyly, his eyes glancing at Lily who was also watching him. She stared at Peter with a bored expression which made him feel slightly offended since he was the only one that could help their brother. He glared at her and she returned her glare with a happy smile.
“Well, what about your friend there?” She asked slowly, walking over to the bed where Maxii lie still. She turned her head towards him. “Don’t you, want him to be safe?” She said this slowly, her arm slowly going under Maxii’s chin. Ice growing rapidly on her arm and forming a dagger like appendage.
“Don’t go near him!” Peter screamed, standing up suddenly only to get kicked back down by Caleb.
“Don’t mess with our family, Peter. Now, FIX HIM” Caleb growled once again, increasing pressure on his foot and making it hard for Peter to breathe. Peter smiled menacingly and closed his eyes. “Rruuy hew teehi” Peter quickly muttered, smiling as he saw an ominous aura rapidly accumulating around Caleb.
Said boy, had lifted his foot off of Peter and was swiftly looking around and trying to wave the aura away from him. Suddenly he dropped to his knees, grasping his throat and making gagging noises. He turned a desperate gaze to Lily and gasped “I…I can’t breathe! L-lily!” Caleb’s face was turning a painful shade of pink a tiny pinch away from red.
“I am giving him air every time he goes into the point of passing out, once he is away from that point I take away that air from him. Back away from Maxii and you can have your brother. If not I will suffocate him.” Peter stated simply, smiling as he saw Lily’s confident face fade and turn serious.
Lily held the ice-dagger closer to Maxii’s throat. “Are you sure you wish to make that sort of gamble? Are you willing to bet your friend’s life?”
Peter only smiled. “I could ask you the same thing, Lily.” He said the name with enough venom to make it an insult, his leer increasing when he saw her press the dagger slightly closer to Maxii’s throat. The aura thickened around Caleb, he gasped wildly and thrashed his body, desperate for air.
These two things happened more and more until…
“Stop.” Said an unexpected voice.
Maxii slowly opened his eyes; his gaze was upon Peter immediately. He sent him a disapproving stare before he rolled his eyes to Lily and her weapon. “If I were conscious like this would you still try and kill me? I am no longer asleep so I might feel a sting of pain.” Maxii turned his head slightly towards Lily making a tiny cut at his throat. “Are you afraid?”
Lily flinched at the question. Why is he not trying to break free? Why would he ask these questions when I could kill him at any time while he was asking? Why…? “I am.” She answered quickly, startled at her quick answer. “-but, I if I need to do so, I will do whatever it takes to help my brother.”
Maxii stared at Lily without expression. He turned his head slightly towards Peter who reluctantly let the aura dissipate. Caleb, now free from the airless mist growled at Peter and was about to lunge when he heard Datara say “Do not move unless Lily or I tell you to do so.”
Caleb froze. He then whirled around to face Datara. “What makes you think you have that much control over what I do?” His teeth clenched and he stomped his foot defiantly. Even though he was against doing so, he walked away from Peter and sitting beside Datara’s foot.
“Good boy.” Datara smirked at Caleb’s growl.
Lily slowly let go of Maxii, the ice from her arm quickly turning to water vapor and revealing her arm.
“Peter.” Maxii started, moving quickly out of the blanket of the bed. “We are supposed retreat when this happens, right.”
Peter nodded but didn’t move.
“Then why won’t you go then?”
“We have lost in battle even though we called for help; therefore we are no longer needed in The Order.” Peter mumbled a hint of sadness in his voice. “They warned me the last time I visited them. When you heard me scream, they told me after that. I didn’t want you to worry but I guess it doesn’t matter now.” Peter pulled his knees to his chest and put his forehead to his knees.
Maxii sighed softly. To him it was like losing a job he wasn’t being paid for. He felt that bad about it but not that bad that he would be sad about it for more than 5 minutes. For Peter though, it was like he was being disowned by a family he had been with for most of his life. Once they fired you, you couldn’t come back or else you were threatening The Order which would result in capture and elimination. That also meant that he could not live in this town anymore. Another blow to Peter’s fragile heart.
“Well, isn’t that a problem?” Maxii stated smiling to himself, earning a confused gawk from his younger partner. He stood straight, putting a hand on his hip and smiling craftily at Caleb. “Are you prepared to take total responsibility for being able to leave the town?”
Caleb stared at Maxii before nodding and raising an eyebrow. “Of course. We need to leave so I am willing to take whatever punishment that allows us to pass through here.”
Maxii smiled. “Congratulations. You have just gained two more brothers.”
Caleb’s eyes widened, he shook his head wildly back and forth unwilling to believe what he just heard. “No, no, no, no, NO! I refuse to go anywhere else with you two monsters!”
“Well, what is the point of that? You would be with us anyway.”
“What…?” Caleb said slowly.
Datara then slammed his palms together, eyes wide and mouth slightly open. “I get it. If you don’t allow them to accompany us, they won’t release the spell, trapping us here with them.” Datara then let his hands fall limply at his sides. “-But, if you let them come, we can leave but you would still be with them.”
Caleb was silent for several moments before he stomped his foot yelling and screaming. Sputtering insults at Caleb and other Non-sense before he screeched “Fine, But I am not going to pretend like you are my friend or anything!” And with that ending rant he stomped out of the room.
“Perfect.” Maxii sighed in relief, happy that his plan worked correctly. “I am happy to join you on your journey.” Maxii introduced seriously, he then bowed on one knee. “I am willing to turn my loyalty to the Order into a loyalty to you four. So…Thank you!” Maxii smiled generously and grabbed the hands of Datara. He then went over to Lily and did the same thing. He smiled wider than before if possible and ran out of the room.
