The Dream Carrier

The Dream Carrier

A Story by Emmy

Every night, as a child settles down in bed, resting upon warm blankets, I begin my job. I wander streets in towns and cities, on the countryside and in towers that reach to the sky. I visit each house and fill the children's heads with visions of beauty, love, enchantment, and all the good things that exist. You call them dreams. Once I am finished with one house, careful as to not wake the child, I remove the vision and carry it to other houses. My job is not easy. When giving a vision to a child, I sometimes glimpse a moment of their life or day and those are not always pleasant. When I see an unpleasant memory, it shakes me ever so slightly and changes the vision from one of beauty to one of hatred. You call them nightmare. Thankfully, that does not happen often. You have met me. Sadly I am never remembered. My visions and I are forgotten amidst the memories and thoughts of your life. We have met though, and we will continue to meet until the end.
