Truth

Truth

A Story by Emmy

One day, I took a walk with my sister through our kingdom. It was a beautiful evening, the sun was just sinking below the horizon, the birds were singing their last songs, and fireflies raced across the path. We had been walking in silence for a while before she whispered, "I am so ugly, even the birds can not stand the sight of me."
I turned and looked at her in surprise. "Where did you get that idea from? The birds do not flee from you, they sing for you! You are not ugly. Your golden locks glow bright in the sunlight, and turn to an enchanting white when moonlight shine upon them. Your eyes are as deep as the pools in the sacred garden, and your smile blooms as the flowers do. You are not ugly."
She sighed and glanced away. "The truth hurts. I am ugly."
I took her hand. "Yes, the truth may hurt, but lies hurt more."
