Twisted

Twisted

A Poem by Emmy

Winter hail pounds my head
All the trees around are dead
Twisted shapes fit twisted heart
I guess I am turning dark

In the night the creature walks
Without a word, it can not talk
Twisted shapes fit twisted heart
I believe I'm turning dark

Shadows leap and people scream
Fear and pain all surround me
Twisted shapes fit twisted heart
I am truly going dark

Alone in a long dead place
Hiding from the light of day
Twisted shapes fit twisted heart
It's too late, I've gone dark

It is beautiful how you contrast the darkness in nature with our tendency (or potential) to become dark too....even the repeating of "twisted shapes fit twisted heart" were well balanced by the other lines without its repetition becoming too obvious. Now is there a follow-up poem for some light to shine through? :)

Thank you for the kind words! I have yet to write a follow up, but I just might soon!
