Welcome to America

A Chapter by Emmy

Dec 1, 2011
I do not know why I am writing in this. I told her I would not when she gave me this notebook. She spoke "Oh, Aimee, I know it's been hard, but writing can help. Try to let your emotions out." Well one thing, I do not know all those words, and I do not write. But, on a snow day like this, there is no things to do. I will write to you.
My name is Aimee. I am 15 years old. I am from Nice, France, but we move to Oklahoma for a new life. Of states, why did my family have to choose Oklahoma? I am no good at English, but I try (I use google translate and spell check lots). I am not ugly, I am not beautiful. I am me. I say "la vie continue" often because it is my devise, or motto. It means "life continues" in English. I miss France.
The children here do not like me. They say I speak funny. I do not know what they mean. They speak funny, not me. They call me French Fry. They do not spell my name right. They spell E-M-M-Y because that is how they hear it. But they are wrong.
I have two brothers, Acel and Abel, and one sister, Adelise. My mother is Aida and my father is Aldrich. We all have A names. My mother has a baby girl coming, we will make her name Alexis.
I take classes Maths, English, Historie, Science, Arts, and French. I have good grade in French. I like to draw and read, but they have hard English books. I do not understand them. I like to sing but I can not take Music. I do bad in English class and Historie class. I try but I do bad. I do not care I try anyway.
Today the child Jake and the child Katie push me around and say funny words I never heard in France. They do not like me. I do not know why. I have friend Jamie. She has French class to. She helps me but she was sick today so children were mean. I want to go home to France. I miss my friends. I miss Nice. Only good thing in Oklahoma is friends Jamie and Samuel. Does Samuel know he has French name? I am being called for food. I will end letters with this "au revoir, rester fidèle" in English "goodbye, remain faithful"

Author's Note

Emmy
When I met her, I couldn't get over the fact that they called her Emmy, because that is my nickname! I know, it's short and slow right now, but hang in there, it gets better. I meet her later on, soon.
