Unwelcome

Unwelcome

A Poem by Riverdance

Always

I have avoided risk

Avoided vulnerability...

But just this once

I felt safe

I opened the door---expecting sunshine

Ready to breathe in the warmth

After years of musty confinement

Yet a downpour

Washed away the heat

With soggy wet

Dripping...bitter...cold---alone.

Close the door.  Bolted.

Back away

Shelter in my own forbidden home

Safe.

Alone.

Unspoken.

Vulnerable.

This is very deep. I can see emotional imagery in this. It almost breaks my heart knowing that you could feel like you can't open up. I mean I don't mean to drag this into the review, but I think you should try trusting people more. I mean sure, people can decieve you, but you can't give up on finding someone you can truly trust. But anyhoo, back to my review. This poem is very deep, and many people can relate to it. I love the style. It felt like I was listening to a tape recording. A really old one that skips a lot. But it sounds great in my head. All in all, I really like this poem.
