Stone HeartedA Poem by RiverdanceThe power of forgivenessUnforgiveness Is one of those feelings That carves a pattern Into your heart; One that wounds And scars and hurts.
As if a stone Is in your hand And you're squeezing it As hard as you can.
At first The pain is slight But the longer pressure is kept The more painful it becomes; It becomes a burden Of wrists and arms aching And the hand is imprinted With the rock's geometric shape.
The longer that rock is held The more the pain becomes The larger the burden... The pain is all you can feel Controlling...bitter pain.
So life now seems hopeless Overrun by the stone in the hand But there's hope. Hope...yes... Jesus died so that we could cast away our stones. Like the story in the book of John Everyone has sinned Even you And everyone will only continue to sin But God forgives He gave his only son so we could live a life Without that stony ache
Throw the stone on the ground Embrace the hope Life a life without consistent burdens Yes, it's possible Not easy---no. Yet possible It takes effort In many ways But God gave us hope Through his own forgiveness.
Greet that hope With your own forgiveness.
